I specialize in treating mood disorders, chemical dependence and trauma related disorders. The technique I use in treating trauma
related disorders is EMDR (eye movement desensitization
reprocessing). EMDR is intended to alleviate human
suffering and assist individuals and to fulfill their potential
for development while minimizing risks of harm in its
application. For the client, the aim of EMDR treatment is
to achieve the most profound and comprehensive treatment
effects in the shortest period of time, while maintaining client
stability within a balanced family and social system. Many types of therapy have similar goals. However, EMDR appears to be similar to what occurs naturally during dreaming or REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. Therefore, EMDR can be thought of as a physiologically based therapy that helps a person see disturbing material in a new and less distressing way.
